YOUTH DEVELOPMENT IN HS AFTER SCHOOL

This training will introduce the principles and practices of the professional field of Youth Development. Basic Youth Development ideas of asset-building and protective factors-building will be presented with a strengths-based approach. Best practices for working with youth will be shared with program participants in hopes of combating Adultism and other youth stereotypes, with specific regard to youth identity formation and brain development. Participants will create an action plan to intentionally infuse the training principles and practices into their program’s structure, making sure youth are participants and not recipients.
